Computer Assisted Instruction

(Grades K-8)

As of September, 2009, the SuccessMaker and Waterford language arts, mathematics and science programs are being implemented in more than one hundred computer laboratories in schools in the greater New York area, San Diego, Phoenix, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Boston.

Both the SuccessMaker and Waterford programs are currently significantly enhancing the learning environment of more than twenty-one thousand students. SM is an interactive multi media course designed to provide supplemental instruction and practice in critical language arts skills. The strands include: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students are receiving personalized academic attention, daily assessment of progress, and ongoing identification of strengths and weaknesses.

Following the tremendous success of the current SuccessMaker program, Pearson has developed a new version of SuccessMaker., R1. There are distinct benefits of this updated version. We have been collaborating with Pearson to assure that this program will best suit the needs of our students. There is ongoing feedback from our educational liaisons that is very well received by Pearson. Below are the features of the R1 programs:

Tool such as a multi-media glossary and a recording tool for fluency supports students' specific learning needs

Installed and supervised by the staff of the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education, the fully equipped, state of the art technology laboratories are transforming the quality of general studies in Jewish schools. CIJE Educational Liaisons visit the schools regularly to meet with principals and teachers and assist them in enhancing and improving the education offered to their students. Over the past seven years, both programs have made an extraordinary impact on students and on the perception of what our schools offer our children.
